Medicare Made Simple

Afraid of Medicare? Don't be.

Medicare is simply health insurance for people 65 and older, and for some younger people with disabilities. It comes in parts. Part A covers hospital stays and is usually free if you worked and paid Medicare taxes. Part B covers doctor visits and outpatient care, for a monthly premium. Part D covers prescription drugs.

You can stay with Original Medicare and add a supplement and a drug plan, or choose a Medicare Advantage plan (Part C), which bundles everything into one plan, often with dental, vision, hearing, and extra benefits included.

The catch is timing: miss your enrollment window and you could pay penalties for life. The good news? You don't have to figure it out alone. I'll explain your options in plain English, check your doctors and prescriptions, and help you pick the plan that fits, at no cost to you.

Medicare Advantage

What a great MAPD plan looks like

A great Medicare Advantage plan fits your life like a good pair of shoes. Your doctors are in the network. Your prescriptions are covered without a fight. The premium is low, maybe even zero, and the extras actually help: dental that covers more than a cleaning, an eyewear allowance, rides to appointments, and a gym membership. Best of all, when a bill arrives, there are no surprises. Just coverage that works every day.

For Veterans

Veteran-focused plans

Veterans, you earned your VA benefits, and you keep every one. A veteran-focused Medicare Advantage plan wraps around your VA care and adds what the VA doesn't always cover: dental, vision, hearing, and best of all, the Part B GiveBack. Many of these plans refund part of your Part B premium, putting up to $184.70 a month back in your Social Security check in some counties. That's real money you paid in, coming home to you.

Many have no premium and no drug coverage, because your VA prescriptions are handled. It's not about replacing the VA. It's about filling the gaps around it, with a thank-you built in from a grateful nation. If you served, let's make sure your coverage serves you.

Medicare + Medicaid

D-SNP plans

If you have both Medicare and Medicaid, a Dual Special Needs Plan (D-SNP) was made for you. It puts both coverages on one card and one plan, with one number to call. Depending on your Medicaid level, you may pay nothing at the doctor, nothing at the hospital, and very little for prescriptions, plus extras like money for groceries and over-the-counter items, dental, eyewear, hearing aids, and rides to your appointments.

Two programs, one simple plan, zero juggling acts and zero headaches. If that is your situation, this is the very first plan we should check.

Saving Money

Times are hard. Let's find you some help.

Eggs cost what a steak used to. We know. The good news: there's real money sitting in programs most people never apply for.

Extra Help Federal
Pays your Part D drug plan premium and deductible and caps your drug copays: in 2027, $5.80 for generics and $14.40 for brand-name drugs. Apply free at ssa.gov.
Medicare Savings Programs State
Many states may pay your Part B premium for you. That's money back in your Social Security check every month. QMB, SLMB, and QI are the three levels; if you have Medicaid, you may already qualify.
Part B giveback plans
Some Medicare Advantage plans refund part of your Part B premium, up to $184.70 a month in some counties. Legal, real, and no, it's not a timeshare pitch.

Hard times are no time to leave money on the table. See what you qualify for at BenefitsCheckUp.org, or call Greg. Sorting this out is free.

★ A message for those who served

For Military Veterans

You served our country. Your Medicare plan should serve you.

VA benefits only cover you inside the VA system. Pairing them with the right Medicare plan can add benefits neither one gives you alone.

  • Plans with $0 monthly premium available in many areas
  • Part B premium giveback, which can put money back in your Social Security check
  • Dental, vision & hearing coverage
  • Rides to doctor visits, plus coverage at non-VA doctors and hospitals nationwide

Frequently asked questions

Does it really cost nothing to work with you?

Yes. Insurance carriers pay agents, and the plan premiums are the same whether you enroll through me or on your own. You get a free, personal review and help with enrollment at no extra cost.

When can I change my Medicare plan?

Annual Enrollment runs October 15 through December 7, and changes take effect January 1. If you're turning 65, your Initial Enrollment Period is seven months long: three months before your birthday month, that month, and three months after. Certain life events also open Special Enrollment Periods. Call me and I'll tell you exactly which windows apply to you.

What's the difference between Medicare Advantage and Original Medicare?

Original Medicare (Parts A & B) is run by the government, and you can add a Supplement and a Part D drug plan. Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans are offered by private companies approved by Medicare and bundle hospital, medical, and usually drug coverage, often with extras like dental and vision. Advantage plans typically use provider networks. The right choice depends on your doctors, health, and budget.

Do I need to do anything if I'm happy with my plan?

Plans change every year, including premiums, drug lists, and doctor networks. Read your Annual Notice of Change and run through the 7-step checklist. A quick free review can confirm you're still in the best fit.

I'm a veteran with VA benefits. Do I need Medicare?

VA coverage pays when you use VA hospitals and doctors. Outside the VA, you may pay the full cost yourself, even in emergencies. Medicare covers you at nearly any provider nationwide, which matters most if you live far from a VA facility. Many veterans pair VA benefits with a Medicare Advantage plan to pick up dental, vision, hearing, and Part B giveback benefits.

Do I need Part D if I get prescriptions through the VA?

Having both lets you fill prescriptions from non-VA doctors at your local pharmacy and get medications the VA doesn't cover. If your income is under a certain level, you may qualify for Extra Help with drug costs.

Can we meet in person?

Absolutely. I offer in-person, phone, and video appointments Monday–Friday 9am–5pm, with weekends by appointment.
